Mexico City is a beautiful, vibrant, and luminous metropolis. Is one of the biggest cities of the world, with a lot of museums and galleries, with incredible palaces and parks. This day you will see the “Zocalo” which is the main square of the country, the ruins of the ancient Aztec city of Tenochtitlan and the National Palace. Also, will see the murals of the Mexico’s greatest artist, Diego Rivera. These colorful murals cover the Mexico’s pre-Columbian Indian history, the colonial period, and the Revolution. Transfer to Teotihuacan, located about 40 km north-east from Mexico City. There you will see the astonishing pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, and the Road of the dead. After that, we will visit the Museum of Tequila. In Mexico, where this famous drink was born, it is impossible to ignore a museum where you can learn everything about tequila preparation starting from its invention and until our time.
Day 3: Mexico City – Tajín – Costa Esmeralda
Departure to Tajin a Pre-Columbian archaeological site of Totonac origin. Its ruins were accidentally discovered by the archaeologists in the jungle in the center of the State of Veracruz. Tajin was the biggest center of the Totonac culture. Will see the giant 6 story Pyramid of the Niches, a “live calendar” that represents the 365 days of the year that will capture your imagination. After visiting Tajin, the journey continues to the beautiful coastline of the Mexican Gulf, Costa Esmeralda, the place where water and sand become only one. There you can relax and enjoy light ocean breeze. Overnight in Costa Esmeralda.
Day 4: Cempoala – Coffee factory – Coatepec
Today, this exciting journey continues towards the archaeological site of Cempoala, which belongs to the Totonac culture. Here for the first time Indians and Spanish people met, and this encounter caused a dramatic end. Later, we will visit a coffee factory because there is a very interesting fact related to the coffee, and it is that the State of Veracruz is the national leader in coffee production. The best types of coffee are cultivated in the rich volcanic soil around the colonial city of Coatepec. Local climate conditions are ideal for a high-quality coffee production: moderate temperature, 4000 feet height, a lot of moisture and shadow. The coffee from Veracruz is well known for its softness and its slightly acid flavor. Coatepec is «the capital of the Mexican coffee». In “Nahuatl” the name of the city means “hills where snakes live”. This is the city where the most popular and delicious coffee in Mexico is produced. Overnight in Coatepec.
Day 5: Coatepec – Cholula – Puebla – Mexico City
Departure to Cholula. Time ago, the city of Cholula was one of the religious, economic, and political centers of the old Mexico. There you will see a huge hill that hides the biggest pyramid in the world. This pyramid is famous precisely for its size. The construction of this pyramid began in the 2nd century B.C. Next, we will go to Puebla is a very important agricultural center of Mexico. It is a bright metropolis famous for its architectural monuments, its museums, its beautiful “Talavera” pottery, and it’s delicious gastronomy. The citizens of Puebla are happy to enjoy the beauty of the city and its stunning surrounding nature, like the snow-covered volcanic mountain peaks. Mexicans lovingly call it “Puebla of the angels”.
